Policeman killed, another wounded by unknown assailants in Aboul Nomros

Unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle pelted a police car with bullets in the Aboul Nomros district south of Cairo, killing a policeman and wounding another.

Drive-by shootings have become a new norm faced by security forces following the 30 June uprising, when Egypt's elected president Mohamed Morsy was deposed. Many claim the Muslim Brotherhood is behind the attacks as retribution against the military regime, though the attacks are difficult to trace.

Assailants in these attacks often shoot at officers, killing or injuring them, from their motorcycles and escape. Many perpetrators still remain on the loose.
