Policeman accused of robbing pharmacist

Shubra el-Kheima pharmacist Haitham Ahmed is accusing a policeman of stealing LE15,000 from him. "The man from the police station forced his way in and demanded to inspect my pharmacy," said Ahmed. "When I told him the law says he must have an inspector from the syndicate with him, he beat me and my wife."

"He then took LE21,000 from the safe and another LE15,000 from my flat above the pharmacy, but only wrote the first amount in his report. "He and his assistants also took aphrodisiacs and cosmetics from the drawers, without mentioning them in the report," he added.

The authorities are looking into the complaint.
