Police forces in Gharbiya foiled on Tuesday an attempt to break into the Courts Complex using automatic weapons.
The assailants fired at the security forces, who exchanged fire with them and chased them.
Head of Gharbiya Security Directorate Osama Bedier received a notice of the incident and detectives intensified their efforts to catch the perpetrators and find out why they tried to storm the building.
Many citizens who were near the area were left in a state of terror.
The incident remains under investigation.
