A policeman was killed when unknown attackers shot him on a street in Arish, North Sinai, the Interior Ministry said in a statement early Sunday.
The statement added that police was combing the vicinity of the incident to arrest the attackers.
Armed attacks and bombings mainly claimed by Islamic State affiliates have killed hundreds of security personnel in the Sinai peninsula since the ouster of former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
