A Police officer at Belbeis police station in Sharqiya governorate died Wednesday, after being fatally injured during the arrest of a criminal in Bani Alim village at Belbeis city.
According to a statement issued by Sharqia Security Directorate, a mission headed by Police Captain Ahmed Salah al-Musallami was checking up on the security situation in the Belbeis city villages. During the arrest of a suspect, the criminal stabbed Musallami with a knife several times.
The police officer was transferred to Belbeis Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. A report was filed with the incident to the prosecutor’s office in the city.
Security services arrested the perpetrator, who was referred to the prosecution for further investigation.
