A low-ranking police officer succumbed to his wounds on Sunday after being stabbed by anonymous assailants three days ago while heading to work in Abu Kebir, Sharqiya Governorate.
The victim was Ayman Mohamed Samy, 37, from Toukh Village.
On the day of the attack, Samy was stopped by three masked assailants on his way to the Fakous Police Station. The men stabbed him and stole his weapon and motorcycle before they fled.
Samy was taken to the hospital in Zagazig City, but died from internal bleeding on Sunday.
A claim was filed on the incident and prosecutors have taken over the investigation.
