A security source at the Cairo Security Directorate said about 150 Muslim Brotherhood supporters gathered on Gisr al-Suez Street and tried to disrupt traffic, but ran away five minutes later when the police came to disperse them.
The source also said explosives experts combed the area to defuse any bombs that might have been placed there.
The source added that about 60 other Muslim Brotherhood supporters gathered in Al-Sawah Square in Ameriya, torched tires and tried to disrupt traffic before security forces dispersed them and arrested four.
