Police deployed in vital areas for 11/11 protests

Main squares and streets in Cairo and Giza witnessed heavy security on Friday, November 11, in response to anonymous calls for protests on social media, under the slogan "The Revolution of the Poor".

Security was also intensified in vital areas in other governorates.

Police forces, led by head of Cairo Security Directorate Khaled Abdel Aal, were stationed in Tahrir Square for the first time in months. Abdel Aal instructed vigilance and firmness against acts of sabotage.

A security source said the police prepared "unprecedented security measures" and intensified their presence both in uniform and plain attire throughout Cairo streets.

In Giza, the police placed heavy security at vital installations, according to Giza Security Director Hesham Eraqy. He added that the Interior Ministry's senior security officials developed a comprehensive security plan for the governorates and the capital to confront any potential saboteurs, in coordination with the interior minister.
