A police conscript affiliated to the North Sinai security forces was injured when shot by unknown gunmen in Central Sinai.
North Sinai security services were informed that conscript Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, 20, originally from Minya province, was shot in his right foot while on duty at a security checkpoint in Central Sinai.
The victim was transferred to Suez military hospital for treatment, and the relevant authorities were notified to carry out investigations.
Such attacks are common in North Sinai, where the Egyptian military and police are battling Islamist insurgents.
