CAIRO, Nov 18 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly asserted that the tourism sector is one of Egypt’s most vital sources for achieving development goals and driving economic growth.
He stressed that the state is committed to strengthening the sector’s pivotal role, attracting greater numbers of tourists, and ensuring they enjoy a high-quality tourism experience, especially with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and expectations of a significant rise in tourist arrivals.
This came during a meeting held on Tuesday by the prime minister to follow up several key files related to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy and several senior ministry officials.
Fathy reviewed a number of topics reflecting the ministry’s efforts to support tourism growth.
He noted that, to enhance the visitor experience, particularly with the opening of the GEM, the museum’s administration is organizing visits through a pre-booking system due to the high demand, in alignment with the ministry’s plan to upgrade services offered across all Egyptian museums and to improve visitor flow management.
As part of broader efforts to promote tourism and attract more visitors, Fathy highlighted key initiatives carried out in cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies.
Among them was the participation of the Egyptian Tourism Authority in the 2025 Trip.com Global Partner Summit in Turkey.
He explained that this participation falls within the authority’s promotional strategy targeting major source markets, including China.
He added that due to the authority’s impactful promotional campaigns in the Chinese market in partnership with Trip.com, Egypt was awarded the Global Partner Destination of the Year for Strategic Partnership.
The minister also discussed the ministry’s work to expand hotel capacity, diversify accommodation options and ensure the quality of tourism services, measures intended to help Egypt accommodate the anticipated rise in tourist numbers in the coming years and attract new investment in tourism infrastructure.
Fathy pointed out to Egypt’s rapid tourism development, its expanding tourism infrastructure and its position as one of the most promising global tourism destinations. (MENA)
