Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq said restoring security so that normal life can be resumed is the government’s main priority.
“The most important thing is security, securing daily life and providing citizens with their main requirements,” Shafiq told state TV late on Saturday. “Government and citizens must work as one during the upcoming phase.”
Minister of Defense Mohamed Hussein Tantawi discussed with Interior Minister Mahmoud Wagdi the return of police to the streets as soon as possible.
