PM reviews “unified ration card system” before referral to social justice committee

CAIRO, Jan 12 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly Sunday held a meeting to review the unified system for ration cards before referring it to the Cabinet’s social justice ministerial committee.

During the meeting, Madbouly reiterated commitment to governing the subsidy system in the most optimum ways, ensuring that support reaches the beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Minister of Local Development Manal Awad, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Fakhry and officials of relevant ministries.

The meeting discussed features of the unified card system for distributing food subsidies, an e-system set to be implemented in collaboration with the ministries of communications and information technology and supply and internal trade, as well as other relevant bodies, the premier said.

The “unified subsidy card system” aims to provide a variety of services to people through a “single smart card” ensuring that subsidies are directed to those deserving it, said Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed al-Hamasany. (MENA)
