PM reviews developments in plans to revitalize sugar companies of supply ministry

CAIRO, Jan 19 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting at the government’s headquarters in the New Capital Monday to review the latest developments in plans to revitalize the sugar companies affiliated with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, as well as the status of upgrading and modernizing production lines.

The prime minister’s remarks came in support of the State efforts to develop the sugar industry and strengthen the food security system, in a way that would contribute to ensuring the sustainability of strategic commodities and their regular availability to citizens.

Official Spokesperson for the Cabinet Mohamed al-Homsani said, the meeting reviewed the implementation rates of the plans to develop the sugar companies. It was emphasized that the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade succeeded in achieving self-sufficiency in sugar during the past year, in addition to building a safe strategic stockpile, thereby enhancing the state’s ability to confront any fluctuations or emergency challenges in global markets.

The spokesperson said it was also noted during the meeting that the sugar factories affiliated with the Ministry of Supply are operating at full production capacity with regular performance rates and high efficiency, in parallel with the implementation of ongoing programs to modernize production lines and raise operational efficiency. Efforts are also meant to develop the quality control system across all stages of production and ensure the production of sugar that meets the highest standard specifications.
