PM: Public sector boosts local product value

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly praised the significant efforts being made by the Ministry of Public Business Sector which is working in coordination with various ministries to enhance the added value of local products and provide competitive alternatives to imported goods that are better suited to the domestic market.

This came during a tour in Qalyubia governorate where he inaugurated and inspected four modernized factories affiliated with El Nasr Pharmaceutical Chemicals Company, owned by the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals and Medical Supplies, one of the companies under the Ministry of Public Business Sector.

Madbouly was accompanied by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Kamel al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Mohamed Shemi, Minister of Public Business Sector, Ayman Atia, Governor of Qalyubia, Ali al-Ghamrawy, Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, Hesham Sateet, Head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Technology Management, Eman Rayan, Deputy Governor of Qalyubia and senior officials from the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals.

Madbouly stated that his visit on Saturday includes the inspection and inauguration of four upgraded factories affiliated with the Ministry of Public Business Sector, specialized in the production of pharmaceuticals and related products.

Shemi explained that the comprehensive upgrades carried out at El Nasr Pharmaceutical Chemicals Company aim primarily to localize the production of medicines and pharmaceutical products, thereby reducing the country’s reliance on imports and lowering the import bill.

Upon his arrival at the company’s premises, Madbouly received a detailed briefing on the factory layout and development works from Yasser Fawzy, Executive Managing Director of El Nasr Pharmaceutical Chemicals Company.

He and his delegation also toured an exhibition of the company’s products, where Amani Haroun, Head of the Technical Sector at the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals, provided an overview of the showcased products which include tablets and capsules, pharmaceutical chemicals, antibiotics, medical diagnostic kits, disinfectants and sterilizers, radiographic developers and fixers, veterinary products, concentrated dialysis solutions, artificial kidney filters, medical solutions and solvents and a range of medications for various uses.
