SUEZ, Egypt, Oct. 26 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed the importance of partnership with the private sector, particularly global companies, to develop logistics services within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), which serves as a pivotal hub for global trade.
This came as Madbouli inaugurated on Sunday the DP World “Egypt Logistics Hub” warehouse project within the Main Development Company (MDC) industrial area in Ain Sokhna, the industrial arm of the SCZone, during his inspection tour of the integrated industrial zone.
The project includes a bonded warehouse for container storage and another for non-bonded goods, in line with Egypt’s efforts to enhance its logistics sector.
Madbouly praised efforts made to complete the project, stressing the government’s commitment to consolidating Egypt’s position as a leading regional and global trade and logistics center.
SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal al-Din said the project marks a strategic step toward reinforcing the zone’s role as a major regional hub for logistics and global trade. The integrated customs warehouse, he noted, will streamline trade flows and reduce operational costs for investors.
Officials from DP World Sokhna explained that the hub spans 300,000 square meters, with an investment cost of $85 million, implemented in two phases — the first of which is already operational, while the second is set to launch in Q3 of 2026.
They added that the logistics zone will create over 150 jobs in its first phase and exceed 300 upon completion of the second phase. Its strategic location near Ain Sokhna Port, Suez City, and the New Administrative Capital enables exceptional integration of logistics operations.
The facility is the first fully integrated logistics complex within the SCZone, offering bonded and non-bonded storage, smart digital solutions, real-time cargo tracking, on-site customs processing, and a unified digital customer platform. It serves key sectors including raw materials, packaging, agriculture, electronics, construction, textiles, automotive, and EV components.
After the inauguration ceremony, Madbouly toured Warehouse C, where he witnessed a live simulation of cargo operations, emphasizing that the new logistics zone bolsters Egypt’s standing as a regional and global trade hub by leveraging its strategic location and integrated infrastructure.
DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said the company’s commitment to Egypt extends beyond port operations to building a sustainable, end-to-end logistics ecosystem encompassing the entire supply chain — from production lines to consumers.
“Our goal is to ensure seamless supply chain integration to boost trade flows, support exports, create new job opportunities, and drive economic growth,” Bin Sulayem said.
Since 2008, DP World has been a key partner in Egypt’s trade expansion, investing over $1.3 billion to enhance capacity and modernize Sokhna Port, linking it with global supply chains. The company aims to strengthen Egypt’s position on the global trade map through sustainable, integrated logistics solutions that promote secure, efficient, and interconnected supply chains.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Kamel al-Wazir, Minister of Public Enterprise Mohamed Shimi, Suez Governor Tarek al-Shazly, UAE Ambassador to Egypt Hamad Al-Zaabi, SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal al-Din, Suez Deputy Governor Abdullah Ramadan, and the DP World Group chairman, along with senior officials and representatives from global companies and the private sector.
