PM holds urgent meeting to resolve rainwater accumulation

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb held an urgent meeting on Monday with the ministers of transport and local development and the governors of Cairo and Giza to find an immediate solution to the problems caused by the accumulation of rainwater.
 
Traffic in Cairo and Giza was disrupted from Sunday’s rainwater.
 
A woman and a girl died in Sohag on Sunday evening when a wall of an old house fell on them from the heavy rain, while two others were injured when the roof of a mosque fell on them.
 
The villages in Tahta, Sohag, especially the Galaweya and Nazlet Emara villages, were hit by floods when the torrent’s spillways were blocked, causing large amounts of rainwater to accumulate at at the foot of the mountain and break the dams.
 
Dozens of acres were flooded with torrential rain, and the electricity was cut in most villages all day.
 
Also, parts of the pavement and highways in Sohag were destroyed.
 
Several people died in other parts of the country in car crashes caused by bad weather over the past two days.
