PM discusses with supply minister subsidy system development

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed that the state deals with the subsidy file as one of the vital issues that directly affect citizens’ lives. He stressed that developing the system aims to achieve the highest levels of social justice and enhance the efficiency of public spending while taking into account the various economic and social dimensions.

The prime minister’s remarks came at a meeting, which was held at the government’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk to follow up on the latest developments in the subsidy system.

During the meeting, the minister of supply reviewed the executive status of the “Unified Card” system in the Port Said governorate, as a pioneering governorate in implementing the system, in addition to the progress achieved in the beneficiary data update form, in preparation for gradual nationwide expansion.

This will contribute to unifying databases and strengthening the governance of the subsidy system.

He also presented the criteria for achieving social justice and the rules governing subsidy eligibility for beneficiaries of the ration card commodities system and the bread system in a manner that ensures directing subsidies to the most needy segments, achieving optimal use of resources, and maintaining the stability of both systems.

In this regard, the prime minister directed the continuation of coordination between the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade and all relevant entities, the continuation of technical and organizational work, and the presentation of results at the appropriate time in order to take the necessary steps within the framework of developing the subsidy system.
