Prime Minister Sherif Ismail approved the dispatch of 120 artifacts to Japan, which will be put on display in an Egyptian antiquities exhibition to be held in several Japanese cities under the title "The Era of the Pyramid Builders."
The exhibition will pass through eight Japanese cities, including Matsumae, Kagoshima City, Shizuoka among others, over a period of 25 months and will feature 120 artifacts from the Old Kingdom.
The revenue from the exhibition, which aims to promote tourism to Egypt, is an estimated US$2 million.
The exhibition is the second to be launched abroad by the Antiquities Ministry after the January 25 Revolution, according to head of the museums sector, Elham Salah.
Salah said the insurance value of the exhibition is estimated at about $138 million.
