Planning Minister, UN deputy secretary general discuss ways of cooperation

Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala al-Saeed discussed with Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Amina Mohamed ways of fostering cooperation on the sidelines of attending the High-Level Political Forum for sustainable development, held in New York on Saturday.

During the meeting, Saeed underscored Egypt’s commitment to attaining Sustainable Development Goals, pointing out to tangible progress made by the state in this regard.

Egypt is now concentrating on consolidating Sustainable Development Goals nationwide, she said.

Saeed added that 27 reports were launched to strengthen the SDGs in different governorates in partnership with the UN Population Fund to document progress and the status quo in order to fulfil the Goals in each governorate.

The Egyptian official said cooperation was promoted with the UN Development Program to support three Egyptian governorates; Fayyoum, Beheira and Port Said as phase one to achieve the SDGs.

Saaed underscored the importance of financing development issue and reforming the world financial system.
