Photos: Egypt issues QR-coded commemorative stamps for Grand Egyptian Museum opening

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through the Egyptian Post Office, has issued a new series of commemorative stamps featuring QR Codes, celebrating the historic official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

This massive cultural project is seen as one of Egypt’s largest undertakings in the 21st century, solidifying the nation’s pioneering role in preserving and globally promoting its ancient human heritage.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat affirmed the ministry’s commitment to immortalizing this pivotal moment in modern Egyptian history.

These post stamps will serve as a mirror reflecting national achievements, he said, adding that it will serve as more than just an artistic product, but a cultural message showcasing the magnificence of ancient Egyptian civilization.

It also highlights Egypt’s forward-looking approach by utilizing modern technology to document and display its historical treasures.

The Chairperson of the National Post Authority, Dalia al-Baz, expressed the Egyptian Post’s pride in documenting the event.

The stamp collection—which is counterfeit-proof, multi-colored—was designed to reflect the GEM’s architectural splendor and unique artifacts.

The collection includes a sheet of five stamps depicting historical statues and a set of three stamps highlighting the museum’s architectural facade under the GEM logo.
