The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai (DET) announced it has organized a promotional campaign for Egyptian citizens from October 11-12, as Egypt is the largest major market for tourism within Dubai.
This campaign aimed to promote tourism to the city of Dubai in Egypt by creating a platform to facilitate interaction with channel partners in both corporate and customer (B2C) and corporate (B2B) transactions within high-potential cities.
The daily program held in the cities of Alexandria and Cairo included a welcome speech and a presentation by the representative of the DET and the company “Planet”, which is authorized by the Federal Tax Authority and the operator of the “Planet Pay” system for refunding value-added tax for tourists.
Ahmed Al Marri, Head of Region – GCC and MENA International Operations, said: “We are very happy to celebrate visitors from sisterly Egypt, as we offer them the best and exceptional experiences to suit different tastes and ages.”
“We are always working to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global center for entertainment and trade, and one of the safest destinations around the world for holidays,” he explained.
“We are always looking forward to consolidating fruitful relations between the two countries, and the roadshow would enhance the economic potential of the two brotherly peoples and strengthen business partnerships with major consumers and business owners in Egypt.
Data from DET showed that Dubai received 9.12 million international tourists during the first eight months of this year.
The travel and hospitality website Tripadvisor recently released its “Travelers’ Choice 2022: Best of the Best Destinations” awards, where Dubai won the top position.
The United Arab Emirates ranked second among the safest countries in the world in 2021, according to Global Finance magazine, and ranked third among the safest cities for solo female travelers, according to Insure Me Trip.

Dubai also offers a safe environment that embraces many cultures, as it is the preferred destination for the brightest stars, athletes, social media celebrities and high-profile personalities.
The country boasts 148 five-star hotels (48,849 rooms), 184 four-star hotels (41,299 rooms) and 255 three-star hotels (26,366 rooms).
Hatta resorts
Hatta resorts provide visitors with the opportunity to plan exhilarating day trips, or bring their own camping tents and trailers outdoors, while enjoying a variety of dining options including the “Hatta Wild” Café, which serves a variety of delicious snacks, in addition to the Sidr Bites food trucks, as well as Taste of Hatta and Damani Bites of local entrepreneurs, all of which support the local community of Hatta.
Dubai’s got benefits
As Dubai has become the first paperless government in the world in 2021, the city provides a digitally integrated tax free solution for tourists, said quality assurance manager at Planet Payment company, Mohamed Saad.
Tourists in Dubai are privy to tax-free shopping – through the UAE does apply a five percent value-added tax – with refunds applied to any goods brought with them out of the country.
It also offers a fully integrated shopping portal for tourists to the UAE to track their tax free purchases, alongside secure pass-codes offered by the SMS engine to prevent fraud and errors.
Dubai’s status as the world’s first paperless government is reflected in this initiative, as it allows tourists to refund their tax process without any physical money or hassles brought by queues.
