Egypt is to resume pumping natural gas to Israel and Jordan on Friday on an experimental basis involving smaller-than-usual quantities, official sources within the Ministry of Petroleum said on Thursday.
The Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO), in charge of pumping gas to Israel, has finished repairs to the two gas pipelines which transfer gas to Israel and Jordan, sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm. The pipelines were attacked last week for the seventh time since February.
The petroleum sector is capable of increasing production through development and research, the minister added.
The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) will offer 12 gas exploration concessions for international companies, said Minister of Petroleum Abdullah Ghorab.
Many international companies showed interest in the bid put forth by the Egyptian General Petroleum authority for exploring in 15 areas, including the Suez Gulf, the Eastern Desert and six areas in the Western Desert.
