The House of Representatives finally approved on Wednesday 26/10/2022 amendments to all proposed articles of the Civil Status Law which is submitted by the government to amend some articles of Law No. 143 for the year 1994.
The parliament referred the proposed amendments to a joint committee of the constitutional and legislative affairs as well as the office of the defense and national security committee to deliberate it.
The amendments are consistent with Article 6 of the Egyptian Constitution, and with Family Laws No. 1 of 2000, which granted citizens aged 15 years and above the right to litigation in matters of guardianship.
The amendments come in line with Child Law 12 of 1996, which prohibits the employment of children (child labor) under the age of 15.
Amending the age of issuing the ID card is in the interest of the child, whose basic features have often been crystallized, and he has the right to carry a personal identification document, which enables him to exercise his rights and freedom, including the right to move from one place to another.
