Parliament not to represent June 30, January 25 revolutions: lawyer

The next parliament will be legitimate but will not represent the June 30 or the January 25 revolutions, said human rights lawyer Negad al-Boraei on Sunday, expressing concern that this could lead to aggravating the political crisis in Egypt.

In an interview on CBC channel with Khairy Ramadan, Boraei expressed fear that the next parliamnet would not be supporting social justice, but rather a stronger capitalist takeover of power in Egypt.

Egypt is facing many problems, such as restrictions on civil society activities and the arrest of politicians, Boraei added.

The Muslim Brotherhood has completely lost power in the political scene, said Boraei, adding that calls to boycott parliamnetary elections were not made by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Boraei attributed the weak turnout of voters for parliamentary elections to citizens' feeling that they have no power in politics.
