Egyptian authorities in North Sinai on Friday continued to bring fuel trucks, relief and humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, as per the political leadership’s orders to support Palestinians in need.
An official source in North Sinai said that 90 trucks entered into Gaza, including 21 trucks from the Rafah land crossing, and 69 other trucks from the Karem Abu-Salem crossing, south of Rafah city.
The source added that among the trucks that were entered through the Rafah land crossing gate were two diesel trucks, four gas trucks for cooking for homes, and 15 aid trucks. The aid trucks include four food parcel trucks, three water trucks, three cleaning supplies trucks, flour truck, blanket truck, yeast truck, sugar truck, and a medical supplies truck, he added.
The source said that 69 trucks entered into the Gaza Strip through Karem Abu-Salem crossing gate, including 66 aid trucks and three trucks for private sector.
Amongst these were 23 flour trucks, 24 food trucks, blanket truck, six medicine trucks, three mattress trucks, a tent truck, and four barley trucks, while the private sector trucks were a potato truck, date truck, and a lentil truck.
The source explained that the trucks were brought into the Gaza Strip through coordination between the Egyptian Red Crescent, its Palestinian counterpart, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) once all the necessary measures were taken.
Since Israel’s assault on Gaza began, Egypt has brought in 10,868 tons of medicines and medical supplies, 10,235 tons of fuel, 129,329 tons of foodstuffs, and 26,364 tons of water, in addition to 125 ambulances and 43,073 tons of relief materials.
