Orphanage workers investigated for sexual assault

A number of social workers in a Bani Suef orphanage are being referred to investigation, after reports that two orphans were sexually assaulted.

Bani Suef Governor Hani Abdel-Gaber ordered the orphanage workers’ investigation by the Social Solidarity Directorate on Tuesday.

He asked the directorate to take legal and administrative measures against the defendants, if investigations proved the charges.

Abdel-Gaber also referred the chairman of the orphanage’s board of directors, alongside its members and manager, to investigation over the facts of the allegation.

Finally, Abdel-Gaber ordered the formation of a committee, including the governorate’s Assistant Secretary-General Tamer Abu al-Naga, and Head of Bani Suef City Mahmoud al-Maghabi, to prepare a detailed report on the situation.

When the charges were first directed, Attorney-General of Bani Suef prosecutions Emad Ali ordered the workers’ arrest, and requested police reports, before referring Beni Suef Prosecution to the case.
