Hany Helal, head of the Egyptian Coalition on Children’s Rights, has expressed his doubts of the figure announced by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood about child labor involving 1.6 million children, contending that the number before the January 25 revolution was 2.7 million children.
“The turbulent economic conditions of the last three years must have even increased that figure,” he said, adding that the number of school dropouts and street children has increased during that period.
