Unknown gunmen and security officers exchanged fire on Friday evening near checkpoint no. 26 on the Cairo-Suez road.
Security sources and eyewitness, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that around four conscripts suffered slight injuries and a policeman was killed during the clashes. Security forces are pursuing the gunmen into the desert areas surrounding the checkpoint.
Major General Tareq al-Gazzar, Suez security chief, said high security measures have been taken on the Suez road.
The sources added that the injured were transferred to hospital for treatment.
