One killed and one injured in exchange of fire between supporters of NDP candidates in Qena

Security has apprehended one suspect in the Friday evening shooting in Qena Governorate that killed one and injured another. 

Preliminary investigations reveal Abdel Tuwab Saad Eddin Abdel Tuwab, a supporter of NDP parliamentary candidate for the workers' seat Hisham al-She'einy, opened fired on supporters of NDP candidate and al-She'einy opponent Sayyed al-Manufi, while the latter was attending a wedding in the Al-Qasr village in Naga Hamadi. Both candidates are from the Al-Arab tribe.

The incident marks the first election-related violence in the governorate.

The Qena security director of security said the deceased, Emad Ahmed Othman, died due to bullet wounds in his chest and stomach. Ramadan Mohamed Ali was shot in the back but is in stable condition. He is receiving medical care at the Naga Hammadi Central Hospital.

Naga Hammadi first deputy prosecutor Mohamed Abdel Lateef, under the supervision of prosecution director Mostapha al-Azraq, went to the hospital to inspect the body. The injured man could not be questioned due to the severity of his condition. The prosecutors directed authorities to pursue suspects and locate the weapons used.
