In conjunction with a British study warning that half of those infected with colds may be infected with the Omicron mutant, the Egyptian Drug Authority set medical instructions and advice to avoid repeated exposure to persistent colds during the winter period.
Abdel Ghaffar said, through the official page of the Ministry of Health on Facebook, that the symptoms of Omicron are similar to a cold, which is the most common among those infected with COVID-19 in London, where the mutated Omicron predominates.
He pointed out that the most prominent symptoms of Omicron are a runny nose, headache, fatigue, sneezing and sore throat.
The Egyptian Drug Authority instructed, on Thursday evening, on its official page on Facebook, citizens that want to strengthen their immune system and enhance the prevention of colds.
The instructions were summarized in the following:
-Doing exercise daily and continuously.
-Refraining from smoking as much as possible.
-Eating healthy meals and foods, especially vegetables and fresh fruits.
-Sleeping enough hours per day.
-Drinking water continuously.
-Continuous and proper ventilation of the house during the winter season to avoid catching colds.
The dangers of using a cold injection:
In a related context, the Egyptian Drug Authority earlier, through an awareness post on its official page on Facebook, warned citizens against using what is popularly called the “cold syringe”, or the so-called magic mixture to treat colds, which is a mixture of “cold injections”, like antibiotic, cortisone, and pain reliever.
