Tourism Ministry has allocated LE150 million to install surveillance cameras in the Red Sea and South Sinai governorates, as part of a plan to strengthen security in the two touristic governorates, said Major General Khalid Fouda, the governor of South Sinai, in a meeting with the managers of hotels, businessmen and investors in Sharm el-Sheikh Wednesday.
Strengthening security is one of the most important factors to boost tourism, Fouda added.
Fouda called for canceling customs duties on surveillance cameras in order to facilitate boosting security, especially since surveillance cameras are needed at Ras Mohamed and Madsous checkpoints in Dahab to prevent the entry of explosives.
Fouda stressed that the internal security of hotels is the responsibility of hotel managers in coordination with the tourism police.
