Official denies ‘malicious rumor’ about Egypt’s mission to Paris Olympics

The head of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, Yasser Idris, on Monday evening slammed reports about a member of the Egyptian volleyball team harassing one of the French team players, calling the claim a “malicious rumor.”

Idris said that he did not receive any calls from the organizing committee of the Olympic Games and assured that any harassment incident is dealt with immediately and is taken to security officers, which did not happen.

He added that the Egyptian mission to the 2024 Olympics are fully committed, with all team members closely following instructions with no deviation.

The officials of the Egyptian Olympic Committee hold periodic meetings with the players in order to raise their morale, especially with the approach of the competitions of players are expected to obtain Olympic medals.

Idris praised the medical committee headed by Hassan Kamal and his deputy Yasser Hosni, stating that the medical committee is making a tremendous effort and communicating with all members of the mission to check on their condition and protect them from any issues that may affect them.
