Ongoing incidents at the Bab al-Mandab strait off Yemen have not affected navigation in the Suez Canal, said Al-Sayyed Mahmoud Rezq, a board member at the Suez Canal Authority.
“The incidents might be disturbing, however, they had no effect on the Suez Canal or the work at the new canal project,” Rezq told reporters on Wednesday, adding that the region is highly secured.
Moreover, Rezq indicated an increasing number of vessels passing through the canal.
