One army officer and one soldier were killed by an IED during a security patrol in North Sinai on Saturday, according to a military spokesperson.
The two were killed and third injured as they attempted to defused the bomb in the Karam al-Qawadis region, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Samir said.
Hundreds of police and army troops have been killed in gun attacks and explosions in Sinai and other Egyptian provinces since the ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood government in 2013.
