“The military council will bear the anger of the people if it postpones the parliamentary elections,” Nader Bakkar, spokesperson for the Salafi Nour Party, has said.
At a rally in Alexandria, Bakkar objected to the constituent committee that the council plans to form to draft the constitution, as well as additions to Egypt's Emergency Law.
He also criticized Turkish Prime Minister Racep Tayyip Erdogan for saying, during his visit to Cairo this week, that people should not fear secularism .
“Is this what he has to say after we gave him such a warm reception?” he said. “What we can take from the Turks is their economic experience, nothing else.”
He also said it was good that Salafis did not take part in the 25 January revolution, claiming that “The Americans would have ordered Mubarak to massacre us all."
