Egypt's Nour Party representative at the 50-member constitutional amendment committee, Mohamed Ibrahim Mansour, has objected to demands to classify international conventions signed by Egypt to the "level of constitutions."
Mansour said that the international conventions Egypt signed should have the rank of "laws" and not the "constitution."
"We were surprised by demands in the committee…to raise Egypt's commitment to international conventions and convenants to the level of constitutions instead of laws," Mansour said.
The international convenstions signed by Egypt have always been put at the same level of laws in former constitutions, he claimed.
