Sources from the Salafi-oriented Nour Party said that the problem the party leaders suffer from is the search for Coptic candidates on its electoral lists to fulfill legal conditions of including Copts on all the lists.
The sources indicated to two choices including the search for electoral alliance or running for single-winner seats.
Youness Makhyoun, the party leader, commented on the civil forces remarks on rejecting alliance with the party saying, “these groups are adopting the exclusion policy, which they suffered from under the Muslim Brotherhood rule.”
Salah Abdel Maaboud, member of the party’s politburo, said the party is ready to cooperate with all the figures and parties that target serving the country.
In a statement on Wednesday, Abdel Maaboud rejected the intentional refusal by former Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzoury to include Nour Party within the electoral alliance for being a religious-based party. He said his party is political and is separated from the Salafi Dawa.
Abdel Maaboud expressed respect toward Ganzoury and his history saying, “We will consider the request to join his alliance, if he asks the party.”
The party’s presidential council approved its electoral platform ahead of parliamentary elections. It included activating articles of justice and equality adopted in the constitution.
Shaaban Abdel Aleem, the party deputy secretary, said his party will demand in the first session of parliament to achieve the demands of the 25 January revolution. On the party’s Facebook page, Abdel Aleem said the platform includes holding all the previous officials who were involved in the bloodshed of the people accountable.
He also added that applying the Islamic Sharia was not on the platform, however, they will seek activating the second article of the constitution.
