Nour Party calls on OIC to protect Muslims in Central Africa against genocide

Salafi-led Nour Party has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to hold urgent meeting over the ‘genocide’ of Muslims in Central Africa.

In a statement, the party called on Azhar to play its role in defending the Muslims.

In a press release, Youness Makhyoun, the party chief, said brutality of what happens in Central Africa of genocide and ethnic cleansing of Musims by Christian militias surpassed all what could be imagined. He added that torture against them pressured the Muslims to collectively escape to neighboring countries.

Makhyoun asked where was the outcry from the West over the supposed human rights they are always calling for.

The French government, however, warned back in November of a possible military intervention in the country to avoid genocide.

Security situations have deteriorated in Central Africa since the coup led by Michael Djotodia, former interim president, and the alliance of Seleka, which overthrew regime of former President Francois Bozize in March 2013.

However, African pressure led to Djotodia resignation in January 2014.

Under his rule, he accused his allies of the Seleka, led by Muslims, of committing brutal actions against the Christian residents, which led to forming militias by the Christian villagers that work against the Seleka.

Since Djotodia’s resignation, the country has been swept by sectarian violence by the Christian militias against the Seleka and peaceful civilians.
