North Sinai readies for powerful storm

North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha on Wednesday moved to prepare the governorate’s equipment, facilities, and services ahead of a possible storm beginning on Wednesday.

Egypt’s Meteorological Authority announced the upcoming instability on Tuesday, saying that a sharp drop in temperature will accompany heavy rains, possible flooding, and thunderstorms.

The rainfall will start Wednesday in the Sinai mountains and along the northwest coast, continuing through Thursday and Friday and extending to parts of the Nile Delta region and the rest of Egypt’s northern coast.

Shousha affirmed that emergency control rooms have been established in city councils, service directorates, and agencies to deal with the weather.

Meanwhile, the governorate’s Secretary General Osama al-Ghandour announced that the main operations room at the governorate’s general office will continue to follow up on the weather conditions.
