The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) issued a statement regarding an earthquake that struck the early hours of Tuesday morning within Syrian, Lebanese and Jordanian territories.
The NRIAG said that it has not received any information so far about any impact of the tremor inside Egypt.
A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the border area between Jordan, Syria and Lebanon on Tuesday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences.
The earthquake occurred one km from Zghrin in Syria, and was felt in Lebanon, Syria and Turkey.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that some residents of Beirut and Matn felt a light earthquake at 11:56 pm on Monday.
Some residents of Jordan, Syria and Palestine also felt the earthquake during the early hours of Tuesday.
Israeli media reported that residents of northern and central Israel felt an earthquake on Monday night.
