Nine people were killed and 11 others were injured on Tuesday morning in a collision between a truck and a microbus on Mansoura-Minyet al-Nasr road in Daqahlia.
Officials said that the collision was a result of speeding that caused both drivers to lose control of their vehicles.
The injured and the deceased were transferred to Dekernes Central Hospital and the public prosecutor was notified in order to launch an investigation.
An average of 100,000 car accidents took place from 2008 to 2012 in Egypt, leaving nearly 33,000 dead and 155,000 injured, according to a joint official report by the ministries of interior and transportation that was released in March 2014.
