Netflix will introduce “The Gray Man” into Egyptian cinemas on July 13.
This is an attempt to encourage the public to return again to attend films in cinemas, especially with the Egyptian Ministry of Health taking a number of measures to ease coronavirus restrictions.
Netflix announced a precedent, by showing its new movie “The Gray Man” in cinemas in Egypt on July 13, in order to ensure that the audience enjoys the movie experience filled with action and excitement in cinemas.
Netflix said in a statement that the cinema experience remains unique and important and should be preserved, urging the audience to enjoy the events of the film and the visual and audio effects, especially after the reluctance of a large number of the audience during the last period to attend movies in cinemas due to coronavirus.
The film, which sparked the enthusiasm of the audience upon its announcement, due to its distinguished staff, is one of the huge productions of Netflix, having a budget of US$200 million. The movie is co-produced by AGBO.
The events of the film are inspired by the first book in “The Gray Man” series by Mark Grenny, which was published in 2009 and reaches six books, written by Joe Russo, Christopher Marcus, and Stephen McFeely.
It is starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Dhanush, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, Reg Jean Page, Julia Butters, Amy Equacor, and Scott Haze.
The spy movie brings together brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of the Avengers series.
Director Anthony Russo confirmed that the selection of the film cast is one of the most important and critical matters in any work, despite the large number of actors participating in the work.
He added the audience had to watch the movie on the cinema screens first, in order to see the details of the characters clearly.
Meanwhile, Ross asserted “The Gray Man” is an incredibly mysterious character with a top-secret past. He is essentially a ghost, whose job is to disappear in plain sight, through CIA agent Kurt Gentry – played by Ryan Gosling – known as Sierra Six.
He is pulled out of a federal prison and recruited by his boss, Donald Fitzroy – played by Billy Bob Thornton – a highly skilled, CIA-certified mercenary killer, but the tables turn as he becomes the target, and is pursued by Lloyd Hansen.
Chris Evans is a worldwide ex-CIA colleague who will stop at nothing to kill him, with the help of agent Danny Miranda (Ana de Armas) protecting his back.
Russo stated that the film is likely to have other parts, because the work is part of a series, and that he will not answer all the questions in this film, but will leave some possibilities open for future works.
He added the audience can follow other characters in the upcoming parts.
The movie was filmed between the Czech Republic, France and the US. Filming began from March 15 to July 22, 2021, and was supposed to start in January 2020. But with the spread of the coronavirus, filming was postponed to 2021 in Long Beach Los Angeles.
The work will be first shown in theaters starting July 13 in some theaters in Egypt, and on July 14 in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar.
