Negotiations start over implementation of Obama’s economic aid package

The Ministry of International Cooperation on Tuesday started negotiations with US officials to implement the decision of US President Barack Obama to grant Egypt US$1 million as a guarantee for its foreign debts, and another US$1 million to replace the debt service with developmental projects that would be carried out over three years.

Negotiations were held between International Cooperation Minister Fayza Abouelnaga, David Lipton, special assistant to the US president for international economic affairs, and US State Department Assistant Director General for Political Affairs William Burns.
