The General Secretary for the National Democratic Party Safwat el-Sherif said several factors are being considered as the party chooses its candidates for the upcoming elections which will determine half of the membership of the Shura Council. The Office of the Party Secretariat is reviewing the proposed candidates in detail, based on assessments compiled by members of the electoral assemblies and from surveys of public opinion.
El-Sherif stated yesterday that the Office of the Party Secretariat has held three meetings over the past week in order to select its candidates for competitive districts. The office recommended that opinion surveys be conducted in these districts, and a meeting will be convened tomorrow to choose the candidates.
