A National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) fact-finding committee concluded that no civilians were held in a Central Security Forces camp in Gabal al-Ahmar, following investigations into claims that civilians were being tortured there.
Committee members reportedly visited the camp and inspected all buildings onsite, including the camp prison, and concluded that no civilians were held there. The committee will issue a report on their visit to the NCHR, which will then issue a statement on the matter.
NCHR head Hossam al-Gheriany formed the committee with members from the council's complaint office and anti-torture unit.
Prime Minister Hesham Qandil said in a press conference that the delegation visited the camp on Monday. He added that he was in contact with Gheriany regarding ongoing investigations into the charges.
