The CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Al-Tayyeb Abbas, announced that the museum saw its highest ever revenue rates during the last quarter of 2024.
This came during the meeting of the Board of Directors of the NMEC, last Wednesday, headed by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, and attended by Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
During the meeting, Abbas gave a brief presentation on the achievements of the museum authority during the previous months.
He reviewed the museum’s performance, the percentage of revenues, and the number of Egyptian and foreign visitors it achieved since April 2021, the opening of the museum, until this January.
Abbas stressed the museum’s continued desire to play its cultural role by organizing and hosting various artistic, cultural, scientific and heritage activities, alongside temporary archaeological exhibitions.
Out of the museum’s desire to improve the experience of its visitors and utilize the latest in modern technology and various artificial intelligence techniques, Abbas referred to the “Project Revival” project launched in cooperation with the global company Meta.
The meeting discussed ways to improve and enrich the tourism experience and attract more tourism from Egyptian and foreign visitors.
Proposals including visits to the museum within packages that include other museums and archaeological sites in Egypt.
It was agreed that an expanded meeting will be held soon with a group of tourism companies in cooperation with the Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers and the Chamber of Tourism Companies and travel agencies to discuss the mechanisms for implementing this on the ground.
The minister directed the importance of starting work on promoting each the NMEC, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir by focusing on the attractions of each museum.
During the meeting, the official working hours of the museum during the holy month of Ramadan were also discussed and approved, which will be from nine am to four pm daily, while the ticket window will close at three pm.
