NASA astronaut documents Egypt’s beauty at night from his spacecraft

In a stunning scene the Cairo night-sky shone through the lens of NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick Dominic, who documented the beauty of Egypt in a photo that ignited social media.

During his return trip to planet Earth in the coming days, Dominick saw amazing lights adorning the Earth, specifically over Egypt, so he did not hesitate to document what he described as one of the most beautiful moments in his career.

Dominick shared the photo on his X account, and it impressed his followers.

“Moonlight illuminates Cairo and the Mediterranean on a mostly clear night. We were up late last night sleep shifting in preparation for undocking and return to Earth in the next few days. Cairo at night is one of my favorite views. I am happy the timing worked out to see it one more time before we depart,” he posted.

“There was lightning over Africa as we approached Cairo so of course pictures were taken. Got lucky and captured at least two sprites,” he said.
