Police and military forces have closed all entrances to Al-Nahda Square on Friday as pro-Morsy demonstrations are scheduled.
Police placed armored vehicles around the square outside Cairo University and on Mourad Street.
The square had been open for the past three days, before being closed early Friday morning.
There is no word on when police will reopen it for cars and pedestrians.
