Hundreds of Cairo University students staged a march on Sunday against the violence that took place on Thursday and the killing of an Cairo University engineering student.
Other Brotherhood students from Faculty of Sciences joined the march, which started from Dar Al Olum Faculty and meandered throughout the campus.
Students shouted several slogans like “down with military rule,” while holding banners, the Rabaa al-Adaweya sign and photos of deposed President Mohamed Morsy.
Amid protests at Cairo University, others demonstrations have flared up on university campuses throughout Egypt.
Hundreds of students supporting the Muslim Brotherhood protested in front of Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Education for boys, amid a partial strike by the faculty's students.
Administrative security personnel closed the faculty gates for the second consecutive day to deny the dismissed students access to the university.
Junior students of Azhar University Mass Communication Faculty also announced a general strike.
Meanwhile, protests at Beni Suef University’s Faculty of Engineering have escalated, as security arrested the faculty student union vice-chief Ali Rabea during demonstrations against Protest Law on Friday and engineering student Ali Ali Hassan during Muslim Brotherhood protests in Beni Suef.
Brotherhood students at Engineering Faculty closed lecture halls and written ‘closed by students’ order’. They also raised banners demanding release of Rabea and Hassan. They also rejected requests by the the faculty professors to resume lectures and insisted on continuing their strike.
The faculty's student union issued a statement announcing the start of the strike until detained students are released. They also demanded investigations on killing of the Cairo University engineering student.
Meanwhile, security dispersed limited march by pro-Morsy students near from Defense Minister abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s rest at Ibn al-Hakam Square in Helmieyet al-Zatoun district.
According to eyewitnesses, police used sticks to disperse protests by dozens of school students.
Residents gathered which caused traffic congestion.
