Muslim Brotherhood ‘able to compete’ with NDP in parliamentary races

Leaders of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood (MB) opposition movement say they are "capable of competing" with candidates of the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) in parliamentary elections scheduled for November, "no matter how powerful and influential" the latter may be.

According to MB Guidance Bureau member Mohamed el-Katatni, however, the group will refrain from fielding candidates in particular constituencies.

“We will do so in regard for certain NDP candidates for whom we have respect,” he said.
